Service Overview

What we do , and where it fits in.

What it is

Cushioned vinyl sheet flooring for domestic kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms; and commercial-grade safety vinyl with hot-welded seams and coved skirting for wet rooms, kitchens, care homes and clinical environments.

Who it's for

Homeowners refurbishing kitchens or bathrooms; landlords who want a fully watertight floor between tenancies; care homes, surgeries, salons and nurseries that need a hygienic, slip-rated floor that can be deep-cleaned daily.

When you need it

When the existing vinyl is lifting at the edges or splitting at the seams; when a wet area needs a continuous, watertight finish that LVT or tile won't deliver; when slip-resistance is a regulatory requirement and a standard floor won't pass.

Why professional fit matters

A sheet vinyl floor is only watertight if the sub-floor is prepped, the sheet is templated to fit, and the joints are properly welded or sealed. A cheap fit on quality vinyl lifts at the doorways and lets water under the floor, at which point you're replacing the sub-floor too.

What Goes Wrong

The problems that turn up
when it's done on the cheap.

Edges lifting at doorways

Without proper edge bonding and a fitted doorbar, sheet vinyl lifts where the room transitions. Once lifted it traps moisture and the corner curls, a small problem that becomes a full re-fit.

Failed seams

Cold-jointed seams (no weld, just butt) eventually open up. In a kitchen or bathroom that means water under the floor. We hot-weld seams on every wet-area job.

Wrong slip rating

A standard cushion vinyl in a commercial kitchen, care-home wet room or salon back-wash will fail a slip assessment. We specify R10 or R11 safety vinyl where the use demands it.

Telegraphing from a poor sub-floor

Vinyl is thin, any nail head, debris or dip in the sub-floor shows through within weeks. We over-board or latex-smooth as part of the fit, not as an extra.

Our Process

How the job actually runs
no surprises on the day.

  1. 01

    Free Home / Site Measure

We measure, check the sub-floor and water risk, and discuss whether cushioned domestic vinyl or commercial safety vinyl is the right specification.

  2. 02

    Fixed Quote

Vinyl, prep (ply, latex), adhesive, hot-welded seams, doorbars, coving where required, itemised in one written price.

  3. 03

    Sub-Floor Prep

Old floor lifted, boards screwed flat or over-boarded with marine ply, concrete primed and latex-smoothed. This is where the longevity is won or lost.

  4. 04

    Templating & Fit

Sheet templated to fit the room, fully bonded to the sub-floor with the manufacturer-specified adhesive, edges trimmed and tucked into doorbars.

  5. 05

    Welding & Sign-Off

Seams hot-welded with matched welding rod, coving formed where the spec calls for it, floor checked for adhesion and signed off with you.

Why It Matters

What you get
when it's done properly.

Genuinely watertight

Properly fitted sheet vinyl with welded seams is the closest thing to a continuous waterproof surface short of a tanked wet room.

Hygienic and easy to clean

No grout, no joints to harbour bacteria, the right choice for care, clinical and food-prep settings.

Slip-rated options

R10 and R11 safety vinyl ranges meet HSE wet-area requirements for commercial kitchens, care homes and wet rooms.

Warm and quiet underfoot

Cushioned vinyl is significantly warmer and quieter than tile or stone, a real benefit in domestic bathrooms and kitchens.

Fast to fit, fast to use

Most domestic vinyl fits are completed and walkable in a day. Commercial welded fits typically a day plus 24 hours for the adhesive to fully cure.

Cost-effective

Per square metre, sheet vinyl is one of the most cost-effective finished floor solutions on the market, particularly for kitchens, utility rooms and rental properties.

The Detail

How we actually spec the job
materials, methods, situations.

Sheet vinyl covers everything from landlord cushion vinyl through to specified safety vinyl in care homes. Same family of product, very different jobs. Here is how we approach each.

Cushioned domestic vinyl

Cushioned vinyl uses a foam-backed construction that's warm, quiet and forgiving of minor sub-floor imperfections. We use it in domestic kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and landlord refits. Modern ranges carry convincing wood, tile and stone effects.

Commercial and safety vinyl

Commercial vinyl moves to a denser, thicker construction with embedded aluminium oxide and quartz particles for slip resistance. R10 handles general commercial wet areas; R11 is the spec for commercial kitchens and care-home wet rooms. Coved skirting and hot-welded seams turn it into a continuous tanked surface.

Sub-floor prep

Timber boards are screwed flat and over-boarded with 6mm marine-grade plywood. Concrete and screed are moisture-tested, primed and latex-smoothed. We do not bond vinyl direct over old vinyl, old adhesive residue or unprepped concrete, it's the fastest way to a failing floor.

Hot-welded seams and coving

On commercial and high-spec domestic jobs we use a manufacturer-matched welding rod to fuse the seams into a single continuous surface. Coved skirting takes the vinyl up the wall by 100mm and back into a capping bar, creating a fully tanked floor for wet rooms and clinical use.

Residential vs commercial differences

Residential vinyl is usually about look and warmth, we lead with finish and cushioning. Commercial vinyl is about compliance and durability, slip rating, weldability, infection-control, daily wet cleaning. Same trade, different spec sheet. We're comfortable on both sides.

FAQ

Common questions
answered straight.

Is sheet vinyl better than LVT for bathrooms?

+

For full wet rooms and family bathrooms with kids splashing, sheet vinyl with welded seams is more watertight than LVT. For en-suites and lighter-use bathrooms, glue-down LVT is a strong alternative with a more premium look.

Can vinyl be fitted over my existing floor?

+

Sometimes, over a flat, sound, dry vinyl we can occasionally over-fit. More often we lift first and prep properly. We'll be honest about which is the right call on your floor.

How long does sheet vinyl last?

+

Quality domestic cushion vinyl lasts 8–12 years in a kitchen. Commercial safety vinyl in a public-facing wet area is rated for 10–15 years with daily cleaning.

Do you fit safety vinyl for care homes and clinics?

+

Yes, R10 and R11 ranges with hot-welded seams and coved skirting are a regular part of our commercial work. We can supply specification sheets for facility managers.

How quickly can vinyl be fitted?

+

Most domestic rooms are prepped and fitted in a day. Commercial welded fits are typically a day on site plus 24 hours for adhesive cure before heavy use.

Can I get patterned or wood-effect vinyl?

+

Yes, modern sheet vinyl ranges include wood-plank, tile, stone and patterned designs. We carry samples in the showroom.

Do you remove the old vinyl?

+

Yes. Uplift and disposal of the existing floor can be included on your fixed quote.
